Elephant Polo, is not a standard sport, but what a big idea. I have just come back from playing it and it is great to see the far reaching implications of a sport like this. It is an enormous amount of fun and everything about it is big.
First off, yes the sticks are very long (up to 110 inches) and the ball is normal sized, so pretty hard to hit. The rules are pretty similar to horse polo, with a few subtle changes. To see a video of this, click here.
While the sport is a lot of fun, the reason behind the last 28 years of it is to help raise money to ensure elephant welfare and care across the world.
What else will they supersize next?
