On Friday, Derrick, Tom and I got dressed up in our finery and made our way to the Roundhouse in Camden for the 2010 Event Awards, hosted by Event Magazine, as All about the Idea were finalists in the category of Best Internal Staff Event for our work for Coca-Cola Enterprises ‘Creating the Extraordinary’ at the ExCel Centre late last year.
We met up with Paul Hutton of Blitz Communications, who worked with us on the project, and Richard Nichols of the College Group before sitting down to a very pleasant 3 course dinner with the guys from Drive Productions.
Ex-Blue Peter presenter, Konnie Huq, compered in between a welcome speech by Jeremy King, Editor of Event and chairman of judges, and a comedy set that got guests in the mood.
In a category with one of the highest number of finalists, we were thrilled to be awarded the accolade in recognition of such a large scale live event, seeing over four thousand staff, customers and stakeholders going through a show with massive visuals, Olympic athletes and a successful world record attempt.
The award is sitting proudly at Reception in All about the Idea HQ and I am glad to say that a fun and eventful (I tried to resist the pun but sadly could not) evening was had by all.
Thank you to everyone at the Roundhouse who ensured everything was all right on the night and to the judges who recognised All about the Idea’s efforts.
